Movies to Watch on Valentine’s Day

February 14 is just around the corner! Valentine’s Day is filled with chocolates, roses, love, and most importantly, cheesy and romantic movies! Forget all the expectations and pressures of finding a loved one the perfect gift or flowers because it is time to grab your popcorn and turn on the TV and binge watch Valentine’s Day movies!

1. Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day stars Julia Roberts and hilarious comedian Jamie Foxx. This movie contains a series of interconnected stories that follows many couples and singles in Los Angeles who struggle with love on the most romantic day of the year, Valentine’s Day. Luckily, through all the hardships, many of them find true love!

2. The Notebook

This classic Nicholas Sparks romance novel was turned into a movie and is the epitome of a romance film. Starring Canadian actors Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling, the movie is a heartwarming love story set in the pre and post World War II era. Lovebirds Noah and Allie spend an amazing summer together but her family and socio-economic hardships keep them from being together.

3. 50 First Dates

This romantic comedy stars actor and comedian Adam Sandler and the well-known producer and actress, Drew Barrymore. The charming movie tells the story of Henry Roth, a veterinarian, who meets Lucy Whitmore, a woman with short-term memory loss who cannot remember anything from the day before. But Henry will not let this stop them from having a relationship, so he makes Lucy fall in love with him all over again, every single day.

4. A Walk to Remember

This Nicholas Sparks novel turned into a movie features Mandy Moore and Shane West. The film is a coming of age romantic drama based on the novel. Set in Beaufort, North Carolina, two very different people fall in love with each other in spite of their many differences. Landon, who started out with no goals and took very few things seriously, decided to ask Jamie Sullivan, the grounded and ambitious reverend’s daughter, for help. They started hanging out and spending time together and the rest was history.

 

5. When Harry Met Sally

 

This Oscar-nominated movie stars well-established actors Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan. The skillfully-crafted film follows two people, Harry and Sally, who are both searching for love, or failing to find love, but coincidentally, keep on bumping into each other. They become close friends but struggle with the idea of whether two people of the opposite gender can really be just friends.

6. Pride and Prejudice

This classic movie is features the actors Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen. The romance film is based on Jane Austen’s novel of the same title. The movie depicts five sisters from an English family that must deal with issues of marriage, morality, and misconceptions. The main character Elizabeth Bennet, a beautiful and single woman, meets the rich and prideful Mr. Darcy. Mr. Darcy hesitantly begins to fall in love with her regardless of their class differences.
