Movie Review: Captain Marvel

Marvel continues to get their movie formula right with its newest installment: Captain Marvel. This movie starred established actors such as Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, and Ben Mendelsohn. Captain Marvel served as an origin story for the character Captain Marvel. She is a Kree warrior fighting against the Skrulls.

This star-studded film was incredibly well made. The special effects were incredible and the fight scenes were cool and engaging to watch. The acting was phenomenal, as every actor did a great job. I thought Ben Mendelsohn’s, Brie Larson’s and Samuel L. Jackson’s acting stood out the most in the movie.

Captain Marvel did have its many problems. The biggest problem, in my opinion, was that the movie tried to force humor into the dialogue. The side characters were kind of annoying in my opinion. The character that annoyed me the most was Dr. Wendy Lawson. The movie gives a great tribute to the late Stan Lee by having Stan Lee in the opening credits, instead of the Marvel superheroes. The relationship between Nick Fury and Captain Marvel is a good one that gets developed throughout the film because the viewers see a different side of Nick Fury because he is so much younger in this film as it takes place in the 1990s.

Captain Marvel would receive a 6 out of 10 because it forced jokes into the movie and the villain was okay, but those problems redeemed themselves with the fight scenes and the special effects and the great acting.
