Blind Brook Baseball

The Blind Brook Baseball team is officially back in action this spring. With a strong mix of returning seniors and promising new talent, the Trojans are determined to find their rhythm and set the tone for a deep playoff push.

The baseball team opened their campaign with a tough loss, yet bounced back in the second game of the season – an away at Saunders with a dominant 14-2 win. Senior Captain Robbie Cuesta had 2 RBI’s at the plate, other captain Elliot Zwicker 2-4 with a double and 4 RBI’s, Jack Pastor with a double and 2 RBI’s, and Jake Messafi with a double and 2 RBI’s.

Continuing the momentum, the Trojans secured a 5-3 win against a strong Lefell squad on April 9th. However, the Trojans faced some setbacks, falling to Pleasantville and Westlake this week despite some notable individual performances. Julian Sauer pitched 2 innings and allowed zero earned runs with 1 hit and 5 strikeouts, Robbie Cuesta pitched 4 innings, with 2 earned runs and allowed 6 hits and had 3 strikeouts. and Jack Pastor contributed on the other side of the plate with batting 2-2 and 2 stolen bases against Pleasantville.

One of the biggest struggles this season according to the players is the ongoing construction of the new field, and when it will be ready, creating uncertainty about when the team can finally make their debut at home field. Additionally, injuries have hit this roster hard.

“Hopefully we can bounce back and everyone can recover as soon as possible and finish out the season strong,” said sophomore Daniel Glantz (Designated Hitter). Julian Sauer followed that up with promising remarks, “The expectations set for us with a new coach were high, and we are working hard to exceed those expectations, especially with all the injuries and tough obstacles we are pushing through to be able to get back to that 2022-2023 school year success that we had.” Despite the adversity, the team’s spirit remains high. This was evident after speaking with junior standout Chris Davis as he explained, “After a rough start we realized that we needed a bit of a reset, we realized that we needed to play for each other, and success will come. Players have stepped up in the face of injuries, and we are determined to fight for the seniors with many games ahead.”

The Trojans remained dialed and focused to continue this middle half of the season. We wish them the best of luck with the remainder of their season. Go Trojans!
