Blind Brook Lacrosse Teams Launch 2025 Season with Energy and Determination

It has been an epic ride for the start of the 2025 Blind Brook Lacrosse season for both the men’s and women’s programs. Whether splitting the new field for practice under sunsets on a Wednesday evening, or through various team bonding activities such as team dinners, both teams have had nothing shy of a fun and exhilarating start to the season. The men’s and women’s Blind Brook Trojans lacrosse teams have demonstrated remarkable resilience and skill at the start of the 2025 season. Their performances not only reflect individual skill, but also a commitment to excellence that brings a great taste for the season ahead.

Men’s Lacrosse: Carrying on a Championship Legacy

The Trojans’ boys’ varsity lacrosse team has begun the season with a connected will to surpass previous achievements in prior seasons. Having finished the 2024 season on a respectable 13-5 mark, the team splitting the league title on a tiebreaker with Rye Neck and earning the team’s first-ever playoff victory, expectations are high. With Coach Jason Einaugler being the ring leader, along with assistant Coach Arcuri, 8th grade standout goalie Cody Katz who has been on fire from the back end, Junior Captains Chase Katz and Tyler Taerstein and Senior Captains CJ Stumpf and Zach Taerstein, the team has aspirations to reclaim their league title and advance further into the playoffs.

Although the team faced a tough 13-9 loss in their first game against Harrison – despite a strong performance from Tyler Taerstein leading the way with 3 goals and 2 assists – the Trojans bounce back, reclaiming their winning streak with back-to-back wins over Croton-Harmon and Clarkstown North on a rainy Senior Day. “It has been an amazing 4 years,” said Senior Captain Zach Taerstein. “When signing up to play in 9th grade, I had no clue what to expect. And now as a senior leader, the last ride will be unforgettable.”

Women’s Lacrosse: Rising to the Challenge

The girls’ varsity lacrosse team has also started the season with determination. In their first game, they took on tough opponent Arlington and lost 14-7. While the game didn’t go as they had hoped, the team’s performance highlighted areas for improvements – lessons they quickly applied in securing big wins against Dobbs Ferry on Senior Day. Junior captains Tatum Korpi and Eliza Barnett are driven to lead the team to future success for their second to last ride with the women’s program, motivated by their league wins over Port Chester, Ossining, Haldale,  Edgemont, Valhalla, Tuckahoe, Keio, and Rye Neck. In the team’s game against Tuckahoe, captain Tatum Korpi scored her 100th goal, while Brooke Coehn achieved her 100th save in the game against Keio.

Junior player Emory Cohen mentioned that the team initially faced the challenges of building up a new team with some younger players. She explained that, “It was hard losing some seniors last year who meant a lot to the program. We have had a good core group the past couple years and we look forward to continuing on winning, hopefully making a deep playoff push this year.” Despite this setback, the team emerged victorious in many of their league games.

Looking Ahead:

Both squads will certainly make tremendous progress as the season proceeds. With a blend of old-timers and newcomers, the Trojans will be able to take advantage of their early experiences, aiming to gain success in their respective leagues and beyond. Teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement remain at the heart of the Blind Brook lacrosse legacy.

The 2025 season of Blind Brook Trojans’ lacrosse has started off on a high note. Backed by good leadership, enthusiastic players, and a supportive public, both the women’s and men’s teams have set their hearts out to go a long way in fulfilling their dreams and continuing the legacy of Blind Brook excellence.
