Stabbing in Binghamton Becomes Fatal for Former Student

2017 Blind Brook graduate, Joao Souza was fatally stabbed last night at around 10:30 p.m. inside his residence hall in Binghamton, New York. The 19-year-old was in his first year at the university and was pursuing engineering.

Classes at Binghamton were canceled following the incident. Souza was a well-known student and star of the varsity soccer team at Blind Brook. Throughout the week, district counselors and additional grief counselors are available for Blind Brook students struggling with this tragedy.

This is the second murder of a student this semester at Binghamton.  Police reports indicate that the attack was not at random. The university has said that Souza’s Family has requested privacy at this time.
